History

Elmfield School Alumni Group was initially created by George Marshall on Facebook on 4 March 2007 with the name Elmfield Rudolf Steiner School, Stourbridge. This group has sadly been left unmanaged by its admin for a long time and as a result has not expanded its membership. It has, at present, 244 members.
Enter John Nicholson, seeing the sorry state of the then alumni group made efforts to contact George Marshall to see if he could assist in taking the group forward but was unable to make contact so on 16 November 2009 he restarted the group afresh but as a closed group with the name “??????”. On 13 Jan 2017 he changed the name to Elmfield Alumni School Group. Since then It has grown to nearly 600 members. It has an 13 strong committee which has been added to over a period of time. It has close ties with the school. John who has taken over from George who has long since disappeared off the scene, has taken the group to where it is today.

Excellent reasons to join

1. Establish a sustainable relationship with its alumni and with the school

We want to have a connection with the school and ensure that it remains productive, this requires input from both sides to maintain and develop that connection.

2. promote interaction with and among alumni

We would like to have a vibrant group of interactive members, that contribute to the group and provide interesting information that can be shared and enjoyed by all. This could be sharing stories (happy memories) of our time here or passing on opportunities.

3. highlight the achievements of its alumni

We are a stage to shout out about our achievements, we actively encourage this and it shows the journey of our members. Not everyone walks the same path and success is measured in many different ways.

4. provide alumni with opportunities to support Elmfield School, its students, teachers and uphold its educational values

We, as a group, want to help as much as we can and where possible like to share our resources. If we know of any opportunities, or need some help with such things as work experience or something else we post on our group.

5. Keep Alumni Informed with events and activities of the school

To keep our links with the school, we keep our members informed of anything happening at the school, internal or external events

6. keep in touch with the school regarding fundraising needs

We want to actively keep in touch with the school to find how we can assist with their fundraising requirements, and support them where possible.

7. encourage membership of the alumni for Class 11 leavers and promote an ongoing community celebrating the ethos of the school

This is the reason we are here today, to inform you of our group and ask you to join us when you leave Elmfield. You will become part of our past member group, who have stayed connected over the years and offered support to each other. Most of us have had a positive experience being at the school, not always something that we realised at the time. We have taken the life skills that we learnt, right here, into the world of teaching, business, science, medical and music amongst others and it has helped us forge our careers.
